Assessing The Impact of Diversity and Aging Population on Health Expenditure of United States

With continued growth in healthcare services, aging and diversity have increased healthcare expenditure in the United States.

With continued growth in healthcare services, aging and diversity have increased healthcare expenditure in the United States. For instance, the aged people spending on health treatments are similar to unhealthy young people's health spending throughout their lifetime. Besides, the rise in healthcare spending has been influenced by the increase in the population of the elderly in the United States. Diversity in terms of ethnic diversity influences healthcare expenditure in the United States through revenue divisions. The distribution of workers based on their ethnic groups influences their spending on health issues. Therefore, minorities experiencing inequality are exposed to the need for high and expensive healthcare expenditures. Moreover, differences in cultures among Americans lead to inequality in community payouts for health. Hence, any exposure to health hazards due to increased bias makes health expenditure for these individuals high.

A report by Allison Inserro indicates a national health spending of $6 trillion in 2027, according to CMC annual estimates. The estimates published in the health report indicate that the national health spending will rise to 19.4% of the GDP (gross domestic product) in 2027. The government, which includes the federal, local, and, state will have to stand in for the national health spending with a financial contribution of 47% by 2027. Diversity and the aging population will have a great influence on the health expenditure in the U.S. It will require the legislature to come up with ways of handling the escalating issue. Aging influences a rise in health expenditure, and hence older people will have higher health expenditures than young people. The aging population factor has the same effect on health expenditure in all ethnic tribes and places in the United States. Therefore, policy actions such as pension plans will help the aging population with health insurance coverage that can reduce health expenditure in the United States.
